Is this a third space, do you have a third space, where are the third spaces?
There was a time I couldn’t tell you what a Third Space was, and there was a time I was hyper-focused on creating one. I have settled somewhere in the middle by highlighting the amazing people who are creating Third Spaces within Northern Colorado!
Overtime the general feeling seems to be that we are getting pushed more and more into our homes as cultural norms shift we often are working, eating, and doing all of our living inside those four walls. I love my house more than most people (introverts unite), but we also crave a space to come together.
A place where we may not know everyone around us or even interact with them all, but a place where we can be in community. Where we can see the same faces behind the bar, or choose to engage in conversation with someone we don’t know. We want to bring our laptops out of the office and into experiences. In Northern Colorado, a huge part of the third space experience is created by local breweries. You will find trivia nights, themed experiences, food trucks, and more, all supported and brought together by our breweries.
Northern Colorado breweries have often surprised me by the variety that can be found within them. Yes, they all serve beer, but each atmosphere has something unique; you can find your space or spaces depending on the brewery itself. They are doing much more than serving beer to create community; they are supporting local authors with book signings, local musicians, local makers, hosting cooking classes, themed nights, and so much more.
As we look for third spaces in Northern Colorado, one truth stands out: one is already here, rooted and brewed right here in our community.
With that, we present Episode 2 of The State of Craft Beer: More than a Glass
